WHEELING POLICE DEPARTMENT

Between 7:37 a.m. Wednesday and 4:31 a.m. Thursday, police handled 16 traffic stops, two vehicle accidents, and two miscellaneous calls.

THURSDAY

At 4:31 a.m., Maryland and North Front streets, missing juvenile.

At 4:12 a.m., National Road, welfare check.

At 3:46 a.m., North York Street, missing juvenile.

At 3:15 a.m., Chapline Street, transport.

At 2:56 a.m., Oakmont Road, transport.

At 1:45 a.m., Virginia Street, driving on suspended license, third offense. A stop-sign violation led to a citation and arrest of Niamah As-samed, 37, of Wheeling, She’s in West Virginia Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash-only bail. Jail records show that her charge is a misdemeanor.

At 12:55 a.m., 33rd Street, theft earlier.

At 12:51 a.m., National Road, driving suspended DUI. Alicia Lou Ruckh of Wheeling was cited for first-offense DUI.

WEDNESDAY

At 11:58 p.m., Oakmont Road, Wheeling, missing person.

At 10:57 p.m., Highland Avenue, fight.

At 10:51 p.m., Sixth Street, suspicious vehicle.

At 10:29 p.m., Market Street, false alarm.

At 9:36 p.m., Valley View Avenue, meet complainant. A resident called regarding a male approaching him while near his home.

At 9:18 p.m., Peninsula Street, serve warrant.

At 9:15 p.m., Chapline Street, meet complainant.

At 8:50 p.m., North 20th Street, threat.

At 8:30 p.m., South Penn Street, leaving the scene of an accident.

At 7:32 p.m., Peninsula Street, follow-up.

At 7:06 p.m., 24th Street, threat.

OHIO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Between 7:37 a.m. Wednesday and 9:21 a.m. Thursday, deputies handled 37 traffic stops, one vehicle accident and three miscellaneous calls.

THURSDAY

At 8:41 a.m., North Wabash Street, Wheeling, mutual aid given.

At 1:38 a.m., Bob Wise Drive, Valley Grove, suspicious person follow-up.

At 1:20 a.m., Cabela Drive, Triadelphia, suspicious vehicle.

WEDNESDAY

At 11:58 p.m., Oakmont Road, Wheeling, missing juvenile. Helped Wheeling Police Department search for a runaway.

At 10:59 p.m., Woody Lane, Triadelphia, flagged down. A resident reported two men who are staying in an abandoned trailer, and may be breaking into other properties, as well. Deputies found no activity, but said they would keep an eye on the area.

At 10:26 p.m., Sample Road at Dallas Pike, Valley Grove, suspicious vehicle.

At 9:35 p.m., Interstate 70, Wheeling, motorist assist.

At 9:25 p.m., I-70, Wheeling, mutual aid given.

At 8:46 p.m., National Road, Triadelphia, deliver message.

At 8:30 p.m., South Penn Street, Wheeling, hit and run. A motorist reported a hit and run while shopping at The Highlands, but could not provide information such as what time she was shopping, and in which parking lot the alleged incident occurred. Police said damage appears to be from a yellow barrier post.

At 8:05 p.m., W.Va. 2 south, Wheeling, motorist assist. Deputies responded to help a motorist whose tire had fallen off their vehicle. Wheeling police were already en route. Called for a tow to Sardis.

At 5:58 p.m., Cabela Drive, Valley Grove, suspicious person. A man and his two companions were passing through on their way to Florida. Deputies checked the National Crime Information Center database on them. Results were negative, and the group moved along.

At 4:49 p.m., W.Va. 2, Wheeling, motorist assist. A vehicle was pulled to the side of the road because an infant in the vehicle was sick. A deputy stood by until they were able to move on.

At 3:54 p.m., Eoff Street, Wheeling, attempt to serve warrant.

At 3:28 p.m., I-70 east, Valley Grove, erratic driving.

At 3:25 p.m., Shilling Bridge, Wheeling, motorist assist.

At 2:36 p.m., Sheller Lane, Stone Church, burglar alarm.

At 1:59 p.m., 15th Street, mental hygiene pickup.

At 1:46 p.m., Sherwood Avenue, Wheeling, mental hygiene pickup.

At 1:42 p.m., I-70 east, Triadelphia, erratic driving.

At 12:22 p.m., Park View Road, Wheeling, miscellaneous. A mother reported that her daughter’s vehicle was struck at Wheeling Park High School while it was parked in the front parking lot. However, after watching the surveillance video extensively, deputies could not determine whether the accident occurred at the reported date, time or location.

At 11:50 a.m., Hughes Street, Stone Church, suicide.

At 11:25 p.m., 16th Street, Wheeling, served a fugitive from justice warrant on Lee Thomas Neel, who is at the Ohio County Correctional Center. He’s wanted in Winchester, Va., Circuit Court for a violation of his probation on a grand larceny conviction.

At 10:53 a.m., 16th Street, Wheeling, sexual assault and battery. The matter was assigned to a case.

At 10:40 a.m., Dement Road, Triadelphia, false alarm, burglar alarm.

At 10:25 a.m., Point Run Road, Valley Grove, disorderly adult.

At 10:07 a.m., Ballentine Lane, Triadelphia, theft earlier. A small item of building material was stolen or is missing from the Highland Park development.

At 7:37 a.m., Kruger Street, Wheeling, disorderly adult.
