Music Center Seeks Young Singers
WINTERSVILLE — The Center of Music and Art, located at 264 Main St., is introducing a new program for young singers throughout the valley.
The CMA Singers will begin rehearsing in February for spring and summer performances of a variety of musical selections from the past and present, according to Carolyn Glaub, owner.
Open to any Ohio Valley youth from grades three through 12, the group will meet every Saturday to rehearse. There is no tuition fee for this group; however, each student will be responsible for purchasing his or her own music at a discounted rate.
The CMA Singers will consist of two age groups. The younger group will be pupils ranging from third to sixth grades, and the older group will be for students ranging from seventh through 12th grades. The younger singers will meet at 10 a.m., and the older singers will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturdays.
“This group is for the tri-state area,” Glaub noted. “Our students currently come from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. We have been getting requests from organizations to perform as a group rather than individuals.”
“Students will get to work together with students from various schools while developing their performance and vocal skills,” said Frank Elliott, the group’s director.
Elliott is a vocal and piano teacher at The Center of Music and Art as well as a substitute teacher at several school districts throughout the valley. Over the past 25 years, Elliott has worked as a show producer for the theme park industry.
