Retired Ormet union workers will meet Tuesday for a dinner at the old Hannibal Grade School. Lunch With Books
Author Todd Snyder, a professor of rhetoric and writing at Siena College in Albany, New York, will appear at Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at noon Tuesday. He will talk about his book, “12 Rounds in Lo’s Gym: Boxing and Manhood in Appalachia.”
Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Attendees may bring a bag lunch; complimentary beverages are provided.
Free summer reading programs will include a magic show at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., at 11 a.m. Tuesday and repeated at the Benwood-McMechen Public Library at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
In addition, an art session, “Glow in the Dark Firefly,” will be offered at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library at 11 a.m. Friday.
This week’s summer reading programs at the Cameron Public Library are rock painting at 1 p.m. Monday, Father’s Day stories and craft at 1 p.m. Tuesday and a music session at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Cabbage Roll Dinner
Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, will serve Ike Sparks’ cabbage roll dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Take-out orders will be available without a beverage. The dinner will precede a Toe-Tappin’ Tuesday concert by The Original Fantasies in Garden Park at 7 p.m.
Green Acres Club
Instead of holding a regular meeting, the Green Acres Community Educational Outreach Service Club will attend a strawberry salad luncheon and program in Pennsylvania on Wednesday. Members will meet at the Elm Grove Crossing Mall parking lot between Wendy’s and Med Express; a carpool will leave promptly at 10:30 a.m. Members may take a salad to share.
Flag Day Celebration
A Flag Day celebration in the Ohio County Public Library’s auditorium, 52 16th St., Wheeling, will begin at noon Thursday, with the dedication of an American flag and a West Virginia flag donated by the Wheeling chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Fort Henry chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
After the dedication, flag expert Joe Blaylock will give a history of the American flag.
Ice Cream Social
Stone Presbyterian Church, 25 East Cove Ave., Wheeling, will hold an ice cream social in the fellowship hall from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Proceeds will benefit Russell Nesbitt Services and WATCH. For tickets, call the church, 304-242-4610.

Fort Henry Piecemakers

The Marshall County Democratic Women’s Club and Marshall County Democratic Executive Committee will host a Alex’s Lemonade Stand bake sale at the Marshall County Courthouse in Moundsville from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday to benefit the Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Group. Baked goods, lemonade and lunch items will be sold.
