Couple Celebrates 60th
Charles and Evelyn Boggess of Triadelphia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, July 19.
They were united in marriage July 19, 1952 at Reedy (W.Va.) Baptist Church by the Rev. Bryce Griffith.
Evelyn Boggess is the daughter of the late Guy and Orphus Lewellen of Reedy. She was a high school teacher in both Virginia and Ohio.
Boggess is the son of the late Marvel and Lillian Boggess of Nitro, W.Va. He was a high school band director in Virginia and Ohio before joining the music faculty at West Liberty State College where he served as an associate professor of music and several years as chairman of both the music and art departments.
They have two children. The family includes Steve of Columbus and Karen Long and her husband, Cliff, of Louisville, Ohio. They have two grandchildren.
To celebrate their anniversary, the extended family spent a week at Myrtle Beach, S.C., where they honeymooned 60 years ago.
