Josephs Celebrate 50th

Jerry and Shirley Joseph of St. Clairsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 5.

They were united in marriage Aug. 5, 1962 with Dean Miller officiating.

Shirley Joseph is the daughter of the late James and Bernice Clark. She is a graduate of Lake Michigan College with an associate degree in nursing. She is a retired registered nurse.

Joseph is the son of the late Rawleigh Joseph and Catherine Harman and the stepson of Gay Joseph. He is a graduate of West Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in construction engineering and a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a Master of Business Administration degree. He is retired from American Electric Power’s Cardinal Plant.

They lived throughout the Midwest while he was working for American Electric Power.

They are active members of National Road Church of Christ in Wheeling. They enjoy doing mission trips including work in Panama among the Cuna Indians and have gone on several mission trips to Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.

They have two children. The family includes Kendall and his wife, June, of Nashville, Tenn., and Robin and her husband, Neal Miles, of Spring Hill, Tenn. Included in the family are three “children of the heart”: Sergei Bykov and his wife, Katya, of Prairieville, La.; Anastasia Belashova of Washington, D.C., and Ivan Belashov of Rochester, N.Y. They also have five grandchildren.

They celebrated their anniversary with a reception in their honor with friends and family at the congregation where they attend.

They have a month-long mission trip planned to Ukraine later this year.
