Fishers Celebrate 50th

Robert “Bob” and Helen Carol Fisher of Moundsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Aug. 23.

They were united in marriage Aug. 23, 1963 at Simpson Methodist Church with the Rev. Belcher officiating.

Helen Carol Fisher is the daughter of the late Raul and Helen Egly Femat. Originally from Brownsville, Texas, she graduated from Villa Maria High School and attended Texas Southmost College.

Robert Fisher, who has lived in Moundsville all of his life, is the son of the late Herbert C. and Olive Lohr Fisher. He graduated from Moundsville High School and attended West Virginia University. He was employed at Allied Chemical for 25 years.

They also owned and operated a family business, the Carpet Barn, in Moundsville.

They are the parents of four children. The family includes Robert William and his wife, Olivette, of Brownsville, Texas; Michelle Lowe and her husband, Charles, of Hollywood, Md.; Jennifer Burkhart and her husband, Ron, of McMechen and Kimberly Quedado and her husband, Jeff, of Morgantown. They have five grandchildren.

They renewed their marriage vows Saturday, Aug. 10, with the Rev. Bruce Bevans officiating the service at Trinity Episcopal Church, Moundsville. A steak fry was given by their children at the American Legion hall to honor the couple.
