Emigs Celebrate 55th

Gene and Sharon Emig, formerly of Wellsburg and now residing in the north Georgia Mountains area of Jasper, Ga., celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in Wheeling last week.

They were united in marriage May 23, 1959 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, by the Rev. Robert Scott, associate pastor of Newman Hall, West Virginia University campus, Morgantown. The best man and maid of honor at their wedding were Michael O’Brien and Joanne Camilletti Vargo.

Sharon Emig is the daughter of the late Ada Mae and Leonard Shook, both of Power, W.Va.

Gene Emig is the son of the late Eugene R. and Angela R. Emig of Wellsburg. He is retired from AXA Equitable Financials.

They are the parents of three children. The family includes Shauna Davis and her husband, Marty, of Macon, Ga.; Valerie Hasty and her husband, Bob, of Hoover, Ala., and Leonard Emig and his partner, Jeff, of Atlanta, Ga. They have three grandchildren.

To celebrate the blessing of another wedding anniversary, the family spent a week together at a cottage at Oglebay Park June 28 through July 5, enjoying sharing family stories, along with memories of years gone by.
