Couple Celebrates 45th
Mel and Marlene Montes of Benwood celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
They were united in marriage on June 17, 1972, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mount Olivet.
Marlene Montes is the daughter of Mary Bradcovich and the late John Bradcovich of Mount Olivet. She is a retired employee of Marshall County Schools, where she worked as an educator for more than 40 years.
Mel Montes is the son of the late Manuel and Alice Montes of Moundsville. He is a retired employee of PPG Industries, where he worked for more than 40 years and represented his fellow workers as president of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 45.
They have two children. The family includes Matt and his wife, Tiffiny, of Columbus, Ohio; and Erika Montes Brown and her husband, Ian, of Los Angeles, Calif. They have four grandchildren.
The couple celebrated with a trip to The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs and will continue the celebration later this summer with a family vacation to Palos Verdes, Calif.
