Franklins Celebrate 70th
Charles E. and Mary K. Franklin of Cameron are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary today.
They were united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1947, at the home of her parents on Irish Ridge Road.
Charles Franklin is the son of the late Charles Rodney and Irma Franklin. He is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and owned Franklin’s Appliance Service for 35 years.
Mary Franklin is the daughter of the late Albert and Virginia Fisher. She was a homemaker and baked pies to sell at the Marhsall County farmers’ market. She was a member of the West Virginia University Extension-Marshall County homemakers club for more than 50 years. They are longtime members of Wood Hill United Methodist Church in Moundsville.
The couple has four children. The family includes Diana VanMatre and her husband, Roger, of Tuscon, Ariz.; Karen Supan and her husband, John, of Covington, La.; Robin O’Neil and her husband, Rex, of Moundsville; and Lisa Jones of Cameron. Eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren complete the family.
Their children hosted a celebration in their honor Saturday at Harvest Baptist Church in Moundsville.
