Monseaus Celebrate 50th

Kay and Vincent Monseau, then and now

Dr. Vincent F. and Kathleen “Kay” Helmick Monseau of New Martinsville are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

They were united in marriage on Dec. 17, 1967, at the Evangel Baptist Church in Weirton by the Rev. Nat Phillips.

Kay Monseau is the daughter of Donna L. Helmick and the late E. Clyde Helmick Jr. She is a graduate of Weir High School and West Liberty State College. She retired from West Liberty as an administrative secretary with 20 years of service. She also served as a secretary at Weir High, West Liberty Elementary School and West Liberty Christian Church.

Vincent Monseau is the son of the late Madeline Barone Nezick Monseau Sessie and Edward A. Monseau. He also is a graduate of Weir High School and West Liberty State College. He holds graduate education degrees from West Liberty and has been an educator for more than 50 years. He retired from West Liberty in 2004 with 31 years of service as a professor, wrestling coach and administrator. He served as the principal at River High School in Hannibal from 2004-12. Early in his career he taught and coached in Ohio at Germantown and in West Virginia at Oak Glen, Charleston and Weir, as well as at Peru State College in Peru, Neb. He is a substitute teacher and assistant wrestling coach in Wetzel County.

The couple has three children. The family includes Dr. Vinnie (Amanda) Monseau of Midlothian, Va.; Anissa Monseau (Danny) Anderson of New Martinsville and Dr. Aaron J. Monseau of Morgantown. They have seven grandchildren.

The couple celebrated the occasion with a family get-together.
