Sargents Celebrate 60th
Agnes and Arthur Sargent of Wheeling celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday.
They were united in marriage on April 12, 1958, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Limus Nickerson officiating.
Agnes Sargent is the daughter of the late Oscar and Dorothy Zoeckler. She is a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph Academy of Wheeling. She is retired from the office of Dr. Richard Irvin.
Arthur Sargent is the son of the late Herman and Regina Sargent. He attended Wheeling Central Catholic High School and is a U.S. Navy veteran. He is retired from Wheeling Stamping Co. and is a member of the Snake Club, the Cave Club and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 504.
They are the parents of six children. The family includes Michael, deceased; Rebecca (Dave) Brosh of Petersburg, W.Va.; Patricia at home; Douglas Sr. (Jodi) of Georgetown, Pa.; Arthur Jr. (Rhonda) of Chesapeake, Va.; and Scott (Jolette) of Wheeling. They have nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The couple will renew their wedding vows today during Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling. A social hour and dinner was held in their honor on Saturday.
