Couple Celebrates 60th
Charles and Roxie Jacobs of Tucson, Arizona, celebrated their 60th anniversary on May 31.
They were united in marriage on May 31, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Roxie Jacobs is the daughter of the late Harold and Mabel Mason, formerly of Smithfield, West Virginia. She is a 1957 graduate of Mesa (Arizona) High School and a 1958 graduate of Mesa Beauty College. Before retiring, she worked as a secretary for the Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force.
Charles Jacobs is the son of the late Amon and Martha Jacobs of Paden City. He is a 1954 graduate of Paden City High School, who joined the Air Force after graduation and met his future wife when he was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. He is a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. In 1984, he retired from Edwards Air Force Base in California, where he was the chief of maintenance superintendent of the 6515th Aircraft Test Squadron. After retiring, he worked for Northrop-Grumman on the B-2 Bomber, retiring in 1994.
After retirement, the couple sold their home in California and bought a motorhome to travel the U.S.
Charles Jacobs was a committee member for the Paden City Museum. Both assisted with improvements, renovations and as volunteers during the start of the museum and each summer when they returned to camp at Paden City Park.
The couple has four children. The family includes Belinda Burch of Palm Coast, Florida; Betina (Mike) Worley of Hastings, Florida; Patricia Jacobs of San Antonio, Texas and Paul Jacobs (Alisa) of Lancaster, California. They have seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Their children organized a celebration at a rented beach house in St. Augustine, Florida, with 29 family members attending. There, the couple renewed their wedding vows. After the ceremony, the couple took a seven-day cruise to the western Caribbean.
