Faheys Wed 70 Years
Jack and Katie Fahey of Wheeling will celebrate their platinum wedding anniversary on Sept. 6.
They were united in marriage on Labor Day, Sept. 6, 1948 at St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling, with the late Rev. Eugene Schmitt as celebrant.
Katie Fahey is the daughter of the late Leo and Wilma Oberdick Flading. She is retired from the main office at Convenient Food Mart.
Jack Fahey is the son of the late George and Blanche Schiffer Fahey. He was employed for 40 years as yardmaster at the B&O Railroad. He is a former mayor of Wheeling, former Ohio County commissioner and former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. He is employed at Altmeyer Funeral Homes.
They are the parents of seven children: Cassie and her husband Michael of St. Clairsville; Becky and her husband Michael of Bethlehem; John and his wife Mary of Wheeling; Mary Kay and her husband Al of Morgantown; Patrick and his wife Tina of McMechen; Gene and his wife Candy of Wheeling and Tom and his wife Diane of Wheeling. They have 20 grandchildren and 24 (soon to be 27) great-grandchildren.
The couple will celebrate their special day with an open house reception hosted by their children at Elm Grove Civics in Wheeling from 1-3 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 3. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to stop by.
The couple has requested no gifts.
