Van Dynes Celebrate 70th
Donald and Barbara Van Dyne of Pine Grove are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.
They were united in marriage on July 7, 1948, in Pine Grove with the Rev. Glen Watts officiating.
Barbara Van Dyne is the daughter of the late Charles M. and Edith M. Shuman Lowe. She is a graduate of Pine Grove High School and attended West Virginia University. She worked for the Head Start program in its infancy and then as a dental assistant for Norman Martin, D.D.S. Later, she was the proprietor of Barbara’s Country Cafe.
Donald Van Dyne is the son of the late Joseph A. and Rhoda Knisley Van Dyne. He is a graduate of Pine Grove High School and attended Salem College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed by Union Carbide, Mobay and Bayer Chemical.
They are the parents of three children. The family includes Mark Van Dyne and his wife Ellen of Middlebourne, Lisa Van Dyne of New Martinsville and Matthew Van Dyne of Los Angeles. They have three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
An open house celebrating the milestone will be hosted by their family from 2-5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Robert C. Bryd Center in Pine Grove.
