New Owners Keep Resale Shop in the Family
Emily Bonar and her mother, Kitty Foster, both of Moundsville, said they were such frequent shoppers at Let It Bee Boutique resale shop in Centre Market, Wheeling, that the previous owners called to ask them to buy the business.
“It kind of just fell in our laps at just the right time,” said Bonar, who, with her mom, bought the business from mother-daughter team Randi Chavanak and Kelly Foster in June.
It helped that they were “all in the family.” Kitty Foster’s husband and Kelly Foster are first cousins.
Kitty Foster said she and Bonar enjoy shopping for items for the store, and the whole family is involved, including another daughter and a daughter-in-law. Foster has six grandchildren under the age of 5, so it has been fun to shop for them, as well.
Let It Bee is a resale children’s and maternity clothing shop that also sells baby gear from strollers, swings and bouncy seats to cribs, bedding and toys. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sizes range from newborn to 6.
A grand opening is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 5 and will feature face painting, story time, refreshments, costumed characters and an appearance by Jack-FM radio. The event will last until 7 p.m. to take part in Wheeling’s First Fridays event.
Bonar said changes they have made include adding more merchandise; accepting MasterCard, Visa and Discover; and opening an online store at www.myresaleweb.com. They are still on Facebook.
People wishing to sell their clothing or other items can call 304-233-0070 to make an appointment. They only take items in very good condition, and they buy the items outright – there is no consignment.
“It’s very rewarding,” Bonar said, “to be able to help out new moms. … It’s rewarding to know people appreciate good deals.”
