Ballroom Workshop Set for April 22

Oglebay Institute’s newest workshop, Ballroom 101: Social Dance Sampler, is designed to help people discover the enjoyment of social dance. It takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Stifel Fine Arts Center, 1330 National Road, Wheeling.

“This is an opportunity for people to learn a potpourri of dance styles in a comfortable, relaxed environment,” Cheryl Pompeo, OI director of dance, said. “Participants will boost their dance confidence, take their skills to the next level and meet new people.”

Basic technique, style and patterns of two popular ballroom dances – the cha cha and the waltz – will be taught in the workshop. Guests can also attend a pre-workshop social, which includes appetizers and a selection of wines and beers, and participate in an open dance session after the workshop, where students can try out their new moves and get feedback from the instructor.

The workshop is designed for all dance experience levels and is open to people age 21 or older. Admission is reduced for OI members.

Advance registration is required and can be made by calling 304-242-7700 or at
