Lodge Nestled in Santa Fe Hills
Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort &?Spa, nestled in Tesuque Valley at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, was our retreat for three days while we visited Santa Fe.
The 450-acre ranch resort and award-winning spa offers tennis, archery, a children’s camp, mountain biking and hiking, skeet and trap shooting, an outdoor pool, fine dining and more.
But, our favorite activity – besides enjoying the glorious mountainous view from our deck at the tippy top of the resort (which was quite a walk in the high altitude) – was a guided horseback ride through the hills.
Daniel, our wrangler, led us up and up and up along, steep, rocky and narrow trails. I was a bit freaked out when Pepe went a little too fast for my timid taste, but when we got to the top, the spectacular view was worth it. And of course, Pepe knew what he was doing – he’d been up and down those trails more than time or two. His agility was impressive.
