Kirke’s to Host Celebrity Scoopers Day

The fourth annual Belmont County Celebrity Clergy Scoopers Day will take place at Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream in St. Clairsville from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.

Proceeds from the sale of ice cream cones and cups and all tips will be donated to Faith in Action Caregivers.

Participating clergy and their schedule for scooping ice cream are as follows:

  • Noon to 1 p.m. – The Rev. Thomas Chillog of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville, and the Rev. Homer Harden, First Presbyterian Church, St. Clairsville.
  • 1-2 p.m. – The Rev. Wayne Ickes, retired pastor of Friends Church, St. Clairsville, and the Rev. Karen Torrez, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bridgeport.
  • 2-3 p.m. – The Rev. Adam Davis, Thoburn United Methodist Church, St. Clairsville, and the Rev. Erica Harley, Calvary Presbyterian Church, St. Clairsville.
  • 3-4 p.m. – The Rev. John Brandenburg, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Bellaire, and the Rev. Phil VanDam, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry.

Faith in Action Caregivers, which operates from an office in Martins Ferry, supports the independent living of older adults and people with disabilities in Ohio, Marshall and Belmont counties through the shared ministry of faith communities. All services are provided without charge regardless of income level.

Typical services provided by volunteer caregivers include escorted transportation to medical appointments, shopping, errands, chores, friendly visiting, telephone reassurance calls, respite for family caregivers and other services designed to help a person remain independent.

Faith in Action Caregivers Inc. is incorporated in West Virginia, licensed as a nonprofit organization in Ohio and is registered as a charitable organization with the West Virginia secretary of state and the Ohio attorney general.
