Sarah Hays Headlines In Barnesville
The second concert of the Showcase 2015 Summer series is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 at Community Arts Place in Barnesville. The program will be presented by the Sarah Hays Band from Wheeling. They will perform a mix of originals, blues, country and classic rock from the 1960s to today’s hits.
The group features the lead vocals of St. Clairsville native Sarah Hays. Hays has performed at various events and clubs throughout the Ohio Valley.
Rhythm guitar, bass and vocals are provided by another St. Clairsville native, Mike Schumaker. Schumaker brings more than 45 years of playing experience to the band. In addition, Schumaker plays ukulele, six-string banjo and mandolin.
Bob Mizell of Wheeling handles lead guitar and vocals. He is also a veteran musician with more than 30 years of performing in many local bands.
Manning the drum chair is another musician with more than three decades of professional performing, Bob Gibb of Paden City. Well known in musical circles from Pittsburgh to Columbus, his drumming has taken him on tour from Nashville to Atlantic City.
Rounding out the bottom is Jerry Wood on bass guitar. A native of Buzzards Point, near Dallas, he has played guitar for many local bands.
If you plan on attending the concert, bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Little Rocks Learning Center (former Grange Hall) on Shamrock Drive.
A food stand will be open during the evening. Printed programs will feature poetry. Donations are appreciated to help defray costs.
