Labishak to Perform

The Thursday Music Club will meet at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1409 Chapline St., Wheeling, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4.

President Joan Campbell will conduct the business meeting. Members Garnell Butler and Anita Chops will greet members and guests. The table appointments will be done by members Judy Szymialis and Pat Pockl.

Singer Laurie Labishak will perform for the club. She is a founding member of an area trio, the Honky Tonk Sweethearts, that performs for concert series, various groups and charitable events.

A luncheon, catered by member Judi Porterfield, will be served after the performance. There is a fee, and reservations are required. To make a reservation, call Emily Mayer at 304-232-1714 by Monday, Feb. 1.

The music study group will meet at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8. Joyce Simon will be the presenter. Laurale Hetzel and Lottie Durbin will serve as hostesses. For more information, call chairman Betty Davis at 740-695-3274.

Chorus members, under the direction of Chops and accompanist Debbie Breiding, have started their practices for a spring concert on April 7. The chorus has approximately 40 members. Membership in the Thursday Music Club is a requirement to join the chorus. The group rehearses at Elm Grove United Methodist Church, 125 Kruger St., Wheeling, from 10 a.m. to noon every Wednesday.
