Those who keep Ohio County Schools’ halls shining, buses running and students fed each day were thanked recently for their outstanding efforts.

Service Personnel Day was celebrated in September throughout the school system, and each building gave its own pat on the back to the accountants, aides/paraprof-essionals, bus drivers, child nutrition staff members, custodians, facilities and maintenance staff members, mechanics and secretaries throughout Ohio County Schools. Superintendent Kim Miller thanked the school system’s support staff for its dedication throughout the entire school year.

“They do exceptional work every day, and I want all of our service staff members to know how much it’s appreciated,” she said. “They ensure that our school buildings, facilities and vehicles are a source of pride, and they make sure all of the finances are in line. Our administrators and teachers know how important the service staff is to the school system. They’re an important part of the education of each Ohio County Schools student, and we are proud of them.”

Ohio County Schools formally honors its service personnel each year. There are 288 service employees throughout Ohio County Schools, and Miller said the school system could not operate without their exceptional efforts.

In June, Bethlehem Elementary School instructional aide Connie Murray was named Ohio County Schools 2016-2017 Service Personnel Employee of the Year. She has served at Bethlehem Elementary School for 27 years.

Murray is dedicated to her students, and student safety is her primary goal. She is a member of the Local School Improvement County and the Bethlehem Elementary School Safety Committee.
