AARP
Greater Wheeling Area Chapter 824 of AARP will hold a luncheon meeting at Wheeling Park’s White Palace at 11:15 a.m., Thursday. Reservations for members are required and can be made today by calling Eunice Lohr, 304-242-9452. Members who have made reservations and need to cancel must call Lohr today or they will be charged for the luncheon.
Bill Blazier, chapter president, will preside at a business meeting. For entertainment, the Ron Retzer Trio, made up of Retzer, Jennifer Galownia and Bob Wolfe, will play and sing Christmas music.
Several vendors will set up displays and will present door prizes for those who register at a particular table. A table will be set up for a book exchange.

Wheeling Class of ’50
Wheeling High School Class of 1950 will hold its monthly luncheon at Perkins Restaurant, 680 National Road, Wheeling, at 1 p.m. Monday. The event is open to all former students, friends and visitors.
Genealogical Society
Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society will meet in the St. Clairsville Public Library’s meeting room, 108 W. Main St., at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting will be the group’s Christmas party. All those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share.
Sand Hill Club
The Sand Hill Community Educational Outreach Club will hold its Christmas meeting at the home of Sue Bryant at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Christmas craft will be made by each member, followed by a dinner and gift exchange. A short business meeting will conclude the afternoon.
Elm Grove
Woman’s Club
The Elm Grove Woman’s Club will hold a Christmas party at Perkins Restaurant, 680 National Road, Wheeling, at 6 p.m. Thursday. An optional gift exchange will be conducted. Chairmen for the event are Nancy Barry, Martha Irish and Mary Kay Fitzsimmons.

Ohio County CEOS
The Ohio County Community Educational Outreach Service will hold its Christmas party at the home of Judy Nichols at Nichols Road on Wednesday. Officers will be installed. Lunch will be a buffet. Members are to pay dues at this session.
Lunch With Books
For the final entry in the Neighborhood Nostalgia Series, Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, will present “Out the Pike, Stop 4: Elm Grove Memories” at noon Tuesday. Area residents are invited to share their fondest memories of growing up in or visiting Elm Grove and bring photos to have them scanned.
Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Patrons may bring a bag lunch; beverages are provided.
People’s University
The People’s University course, “A History of Wheeling,” presented by Dr. David Javersak, will continue at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling. The session will examine “Contemporary Wheeling.” The program is free and open to the public.
Circle of Compassion
Anna Marie Troiani will serve as facilitator for a Circle of Compassion session at St. Joseph Retreat Center, 137 Mount St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday. There is a cost for the year-long series.
Taize Prayer
Sister Carol Hannig, CSJ, will serve as facilitator for a Taize prayer service at Mount St. Joseph chapel, 137 Mount St. Joseph Road, Wheeling, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday. Free-will donations are accepted.
Dinner
First Presbyterian Church, Ninth and Charles streets, Wellsburg, will hold a free community lasagna dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Benefit Concert
A Family Christmas, featuring 1170 and the Retzer Trio, will be presented at the Capitol Theatre, 1015 Main St., Wheeling, at 7 p.m. Friday.
Tickets can be purchased at the Capitol Theatre box office or online at etix.com. All proceeds will benefit senior programs provided by Family Service-Upper Ohio Valley.
Book Signing
The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., will present a book-signing event by local author Gerald Lattocha Jr. from 4-6 p.m. Friday. Lattocha will be offering “The Genesis Beast” and its sequel, “Genesis Beast 2: Attack of the Hybrids.”
A Wheeling native, Lattocha is a Bridgeport High School graduate and an Army veteran of the Gulf War. He is working on his next book.
Computer Class
The Follansbee branch of the Brooke County Public Library will offer a free adult basic computer class at 10 a.m. Tuesday. A representative from the West Virginia University extension office will be the instructor. Class space is limited. To register, call the circulation desk, 304-527-0860.
Make & Take Table
Children may stop at the Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, from 4-6 p.m. Thursday and visit a Christmas activity table with Christmas crafts and coloring pages.
Christmas Concert
Dream Big will offer a free Christmas concert at New Day Christian Center, 2640 Pleasant Ave., Wellsburg, at 5 p.m. Saturday. It is open to the public.
Dream Big is a free after-school music program offered to students in grades 4 and up. Students can receive private lessons for most band instruments, musical tutoring, beginning piano lessons and participate in percussion ensembles, choir and small instrumental groups. Support Group
Wheeling Hospital’s Blood Cancer Support Group will meet in conference room D at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Gloria McFarland, a cancer survivor, will present “Hope and Inspiration.”
