Top-Quality Italian Cuisine Keeps Customers Coming Back to Mario’s

By SCOTT McCLOSKEY

Staff Writer

WEIRTON — Mario’s Restaurant & Lounge in Weirton has been serving exquisite Italian cuisine for more than 45 years.

Mario’s is a family business that was started by Mario DiCarlo in 1955 when he brought his pizza-making skills and keen business sense to Weirton where he enjoyed immediate success. It was in 1970 when he decided to venture out and open a family-owned and operated business that offers a variety of Italian dishes, pastas, sandwiches, pizza, soups, salads and appetizers.

Today, the restaurant and pizza shop business, which has been passed on to the next generation — to his son, Dan DiCarlo, and his daughter, Vivian Pagley — still offer those same tasty menu selections that have kept their customers returning for decades.

In addition to Italian favorites such as: rigatoni, ravioli, fettuccini, home-made spaghetti and linguini, Mario’s also offers a variety of delicious sandwiches such as the meatball, buffalo chicken, big fish and Philly cheese melt sandwiches.

In addition, the restaurant still offers DiCarlo’s Original pizza by the slice or a round eight-slice white pizza with a variety of toppings from which to choose.

The calamari rings, jumbo wings, stuffed peppers, bruschetta and cheese sticks are appetizers that are sure to please the palette.

“Mario’s serves only the finest imported pasta from Italy and homemade dishes such as lasagna and veal parmesan,” DiCarlo said.

The restaurant offers daily specials, and the homemade lasagna is the special every Friday.

Mario’s has a separate bar and lounge area where customers can select from a variety of red and white wines, domestic and imported beers, craft beers on tap and order from their full menu.

Mario’s is located at 3806 Main St, Weirton. To make a reservation or for more information about their menu call 304-748-1179.
