Moms, Sons, Cut a Rug

Photo Provided Ashley Wallace, far left, and son Klypsan, far right, enjoy dancing at a past “Mother May I Have This Dance?” event. The fifth annual mother-son dance will take place May 13 at the McLure Hotel in Wheeling.

Daddies and daughters long have their “date” nights on the dance floor, but thanks to the Ohio County Family Resource Network, mothers and sons now have a special night to get spiffed up and cut a rug together.

The Ohio County Family Resource Network will be hosting its fifth annual Mother-Son Dance, titled “Mother, May I Have This Dance?”, on May 13 at the McLure Hotel in Wheeling. The dance is from 6-8:30 p.m. and includes dancing to the music of a DJ, heavy hors d’oeuvres, cake, refreshments and parking in the McClure lot. There also will be crafts and door prizes. For an additional cost, attendees will have an opportunity to purchase photo packages and chances on a variety of themed baskets.

Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite.com or at the OCFRN office located at 56 13th St., Wheeling, on April 14. To schedule a time to purchase at the office, call 304-232-5600 or email ocfrn office@yahoo.com. Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Joe’s Pre Owned Auto in Moundsville and Northwood Health Systems are major sponsors of this event. Additional sponsors and door prize donations are needed.

The OCFRN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization completely dependent upon grant funding to coordinate needed services for families in Ohio County. The OCFRN is a community organization charged with service coordination, needs and resource assessment, planning, community mobilization and evaluation.

Projects of the Ohio County FRN include parent workshops, professional training, disability events, child abuse prevention activities and health and wellness conferences at area middle schools.
