Wheeling teen Alexis Storch has spent the past week in Atlanta vying for a shot at becoming New York-based Jovani Fashion’s next It Girl.

Storch has been modeling on the catwalk in the gown designer’s 2018 prom fashion shows during the World of Prom market event at AmericasMart in Atlanta.

The rising Linsly School senior, her mother, Erikka Storch, and her younger sister, Payton, arrived in Atlanta on July 28. Monday was the first official day of the market, and Alexis modeled Jovani’s line of designer dresses all week long with 74 other girls from around the country who were selected by Jovani.

“She has been participating in four shows a day,” Erikka Storch said. “She’s enjoying meeting the other girls from all over the United States and being part of such an exciting time with the Prom 2018 dress debuts.”

After this week, Jovani will choose 15 finalists to compete in New York in September, where they will participate in an editorial shoot and Jovani’s summer fashion week. One of them will be chosen the Jovani It Girl, becoming the brand’s Instagram ambassador and receiving a scholarship for $5,000 and a $10,000 custom-made Jovani dress.

All Atlanta participants received a $750 Jovani gift card. New York finalists also receive a $1,000 scholarship and a $1,500 Jovani gift card.

“It is Alexis’s desire to pursue a career in fashion, and this is giving her a behind-the-scenes look into that world,” her mother said.
