Sorority Seeks Presenters For Girls’ Career Day

The Chi Omega chapter at West Liberty University is seeking women to participate in a career day for third-, fourth- and fifth-grade girls at Madison Elementary School on Oct. 28.

Andrea Garrison, the chapter’s community service director, said professional women are invited to set up displays that represent their professions, dress as they would for a normal work day, bring handouts and share any information about their education and career path.

“We hope to have many different fields represented, and our goal is for the girls to meet and talk to successful female professionals and hard workers so they can begin to envision themselves one day having the careers of their dreams,” Garrison said.

The career day is part of the sorority’s monthly Owl Pals with Madison Gals program, that “aims to foster relationships between the elementary school and college students as well as provide mentors to the little girls. We also use this time to teach the girls a little about what college, as well as sorority life, consists of and get them excited and talking about going to college and following their dreams one day,” she said.

The career day event takes place form 9-11 a.m. Oct. 28, and presenters are welcome to stay for lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. For information, email amgarrison@westliberty.edu.
