Lambie To Entertain Thursday Music Club at Stifel Fine Arts Center in Wheeling
WHEELING — Eli Lambie will entertain the Thursday Music Club at Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center, 1330 National Road, at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Mary Lou Green is the sponsor for this performance.
President Lynn Welsh will conduct the business meeting and will hear reports from treasurer Carol Couch and other committee chairwomen. After the meeting, member and caterer Judi Porterfield will serve lunch. There is a charge for the lunch and reservations are required. Anita Chops and Garnell Butler will greet members and guests. Linda Wilson and Nancy West will be in charge of the table decorations.
Because of unforeseen circumstances, the club’s 2018 auditions for young musicians have been canceled. The club will resume the auditions in the spring of 2019.
The Thursday Music Club has played a big role in Lambie’s life since he began playing piano at the club auditions several years ago while he studied with the late Elaine Young.
Lambie teaches elementary music at Sand Hill and Center McMechen Elementary schools and is working on a master’s degree in education leadership at Wheeling Jesuit University. He serves as the keyboardist and music director at Bethany Memorial Church and plays keyboard and sings with Hit Play, the Tim Ullom Band, Refugee and other musical groups.
Lambie graduated from West Liberty University in December with Bachelor of Music degrees in music performance and music technology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education.
Some of his honors and awards include being a two-time winner of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and the Woody Herman Jazz Award. Lambie also is a two-time best of show winner at West Liberty’s Media Arts and Design Festival and a recipient of Level 10 distinction, West Liberty’s highest honor for music performance.
He has composed and engineered music for ABC and the Miss America Pageant. Lambie is a two-time golf state team champion, two-time all-state golf team member and two-time speech state champion. He served as captain of Wheeling Park High School’s speech team.
Meanwhile, the club’s study group will meet at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1409 Chapline St., at 1 p.m. Feb. 12. Betty Davis will be the presenter. Judy Szymialis will be the hostess. For more information, call Davis at 740-695-3274.
