Zoot Swings Into Woman’s Club

WHEELING — The Woman’s Club of Wheeling will welcome Dr. Zoot from Pittsburgh to entertain at the meeting that will take place Friday at Monument Place in Elm Grove.

At 11 a.m., Eileen Simon will review “Go Set a Watchman,” written by Harber Lee.

An a la carte lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. President Sandy Smith will lead the business meeting at 1 p.m. Tickets will be sold for the March 9 spring luncheon, and a book swap will take place. The entertainment begins after the business meeting.

Dr. Zoot is Pittsburgh’s premier swing band. Band members inlcude Sal Ventura, John Oscar “Smokin O” Menosky, Craig “Izzy” Arlet, Mark Snyder, Jay Constable and Jason May. Their influences include Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole.
