WHEELING — The YWCA Wheeling will bring its edgy fundraiser to the area at a new venue on Aug. 18: Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Ractrack.

Partnering with Over the Edge Global, the YWCA Wheeling staff and friends will be rappelling off the hotel portion of the track to raise funds and awareness for women and children. Individuals must raise $1,000 and teams $3,500 for the YWCA to secure a rappelling spot.

Over the Edge is a special events company that provides signature events for nonprofit organizations around the world. Business leaders, individuals and community members are invited to raise donations in exchange for the experience of going over the edge of a prominent building. Over the Edge is responsible for all technical aspects of the event including the insurance, professional staff and rappelling equipment.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and the public is invited to cheer on the participants.
