Artworks Around Town Brings Laura Cramblet to the Stage

WHEELING — Laura Cramblet will take the stage for February’s Third Friday from 7:30-10 p.m. Feb. 15 in the Studio Gallery at Artworks Around Town in Wheeling’s historic Centre Market.

Cramblet is a celebrated and well-known singer and songwriter, said Sean Decker of the Bridge and Tunnel Collective.

She performs at venues either as a solo artist, as a duo with Brooke Deal or with her band, the Laura Cramblet Band. According to her website, “Cramblet’s songs and lyrics are both poignant and heart-felt; her voice is warm and soothing while her guitar and hammered dulcimer playing are noteworthy.”

Brooke “Doc” Deal adds a whole new dimension to Cramblet’s songs. She joined Cramblet in 2017. Deal is also affiliated with another local band from Bethany, “Harald and the Hot Pockets.” She is a professor at Bethany College as is another band member, Panel Collaros, who is lead guitar as well as sound technician. He is currently working on Cramblet’s new CD, due to be released sometime in 2019. Her first CD, “Shadyside of Heaven” came out in 2014.

Cramblet is most remembered as a member of Grass Menagerie, a popular band from the D.C. area. She was also a member of Kinfolk, Honeysuckle Rose and WV Grass. Currently, her music is streaming on Spotify, Jango, Google Chrome, etc.

Surrounding the musicians is the artwork of Ed Doughty, longtime Artworks associate member artist. In the North Gallery is the photography of Owens Brown. Artworks is a non profit gallery providing exhibit space for juried artists as well as community and educational programs. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for Fridays, when closing is at 6 p.m.
