WHEELING — Wheeling Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the Music of the Knights: The Music of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney with guest artists Scott Coulter, Kelli Rabke, John Boswell, and Lorinda Lisitza at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling.

The orchestra will be conducted by music director finalist Andres Franco.

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney are not only knights–they also happen to be three of the most successful songwriters of all time with careers that span decades. “Music of the Knights” honors their lasting musical influence with songs such as “Memory,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Circle of Life,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “Your Song,” “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” “Yesterday,’ “Hey Jude” and many more!

Guest artists, Scott Coulter, Kellie Rabkeand John Boswell, return to Wheeling, after having previously performed with the WSO in the 2017-18 season opener, Blockbuster Broadway.

Coulter (vocalist/host) is one of New York City’s most honored vocalists, winning multiple awards for his cabaret acts and his performances with symphonies around the country.

Kelli Rabke (vocalist) was seen on Broadway as narrator in the Broadway revival of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Her countless other roles include the role of Eponine in Les Miserables and the recurring role of Bernadette on “The Young and the Restless.”

John Boswell (vocalist/pianist) has served as musical director for Judy Collins, Andy Williams and Bob Newhart and numerous concerts tours around the country. Lorinda Lisitza (vocalist) is an award-winning NYC singer/actress originally from Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan who has been part of “Music of the Knights” since its world premiere with the Calgary Philharmonic.

Currently in his fourth season as music director of Tulsa’s Signature Symphony and associate conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony, Franco returns to Wheeling after leading the WSO in November with the thrilling concert “A Night in Vienna.” Highlights of the 2018/2019 season include debuts with the Dallas Symphony, Omaha Symphony, and Wheeling Symphony, as well as a return engagement with the Detroit Symphony. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogot, Colombia, as well as master of music degrees in piano performance and conducting from Texas Christian University. He is married to Victoria Luperi, associate principal clarinetist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

“I am very excited to return to Wheeling to conduct this concert featuring music by three of the most successful songwriters of all time, with careers spanning several decades and musical genres from Broadway to Pop and Rock and Roll: Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Elton John, and Sir Paul McCartney,” Franco said.

“This is an evening filled with music for everybody, including hits such as ‘Memory,’ ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,’ ‘Hey Jude,’ ‘Live and Let Die,’ ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight,’ and ‘Crocodile Rock.’ I am also looking forward to performing with the wonderful Wheeling Symphony, Emmy-nominee Scott Coulter, Broadway star Kelli Rabke, award-winning actress/singer Lorinda Lisitza, and piano genius John Boswell. I have worked with them before, and I can tell you they are the best in the business.”

Prior to the concert, patrons can purchase a pre-show dinner buffet, catered by Chef Charlie Schlegel from Ye Olde Alpha in the Capitol Theatre Ballroom starting at 6 p.m. Reservations are required. Immediately following the performance, the board of directors cordially invites attendees to stay for a free post-show reception with Maestro Franco and other members of the symphony orchestra.
