Help Is Needed For Food Packing
BELMONT — With the help of generous donors the Belmont County Farm Bureau School Backpack Program exceeded its goal of $40,000 and received more than $43,000 in donations.
This amount will provide 23,888 meals, which is 143,328 servings, to be used by four schools in Belmont County that expressed a need.
Help is needed to package the bulk ingredients into the meals. A packaging event will be held starting at 1 p.m. July 20 at Union Local High School Gymnasium, 66779 Belmont Morristown Road, Belmont.
Packing will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until all the meals have been packed. About 200 volunteers are needed with plans to conclude by 8 p.m. All individuals and groups are welcome to come and participate at the packaging event as there will be various jobs and all help is appreciated.
According to organizers, this will be “an amazing and life changing opportunity” to help hungry kids have a hot meal to eat. Volunteers may come anytime and stay as long as they can.
For more information or if a group would like to register for a specific time, call the Belmont County Farm Bureau, 740-425-3681, or the event coordinator Devin Cain at 740-391-0869.
