Children’s Museum Will Announce New Location on Oct. 18
WHEELING — The Children’s Museum of the Ohio Valley’s Board of Directors will announce a new location for the popular children’s facility in October.
After years of looking for another home, the CMOV finally made the decision to close its doors at 1000 Main St. in downtown Wheeling to focus on creating a new home for its mission and the youth of the Ohio Valley.
Terra Crews, past director and current board member, said “The support of our community has brought us to a new venture. We have outgrown our current space. Our programming goes beyond what we can offer at this time. This move is the beginning of a bright and fresh Children’s Museum. Our programming will expand beyond our walls and take place outdoors in addition to our new location. I am overjoyed with the vision that is taking place and to see the future of the Children’s Museum unfold. thank you for your support.”
The museum closed its doors at 1000 Main St. on Aug. 5. The location for the new museum will be revealed at the organization’s gala on Oct. 18 at the Capitol Theatre. The new home will get a makeover and have some exciting partners inside, officials said.
There will be plenty of outdoor space and parking as well. Tickets and sponsorship are available for this “Spooktacular” event. Contact a board member or go to www.cmovkids.org for more details.
Renovations at the new location are expected to be completed by fall of 2020.
“As a longtime board member and past director of the CMOV, I am so excited for this move,” Mim Parsons said. “Children’s museums thrive on collaboration with their communities. Our newest collaboration is not only going to benefit us, but all of the children and families in the Ohio Valley.”
Current memberships will be honored at the new location as well as any gift certificates.
“Hold onto your memberships cards and bring them opening day. We look forward to growing our memberships and service of this community,” Parsons added.
The museum will be holding a Community Clean-Out Day at which time it will be offering select items that have been donated to the facility and will offer them to the public.
