Nationally Renowned Chorus to Perform

Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON — The Washington County Gay Straight Alliance Inc. will host a performance of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C.

The choir will perform at 2 p.m. March 24 at First Presbyterian Church, 1793, located at 100 E. Wheeling St., Washington, Pa. Proceeds from the event will benefit the programs and outreach of the alliance.

The Washington County Gay Straight Alliance Inc. is a nonprofit organization that holdss weekly and monthly safe, confidential peer meetings and events for individuals and provides support, education and community outreach on the issues of diversity.

Led by artistic director Thea Kano, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., is now in its 36th season. The chorus sings to inspire equality and inclusion with musical performances and education promoting justice and dignity for all. The group has more than 250 singing members, four select ensembles, 100 support volunteers, more than 400 subscribers, 500 donors and an annual audience of more than 10,000 people.

The chorus and its ensembles have kept a busy schedule in recent years, with more than 100 outreach performances each season.
