Benwood-McMechen Public Library to Host Betsy Ross, Story of the Flag
Go back in time to learn the story of the American flag.
A living history portrayal by Patty Cooper as Betsy Ross will take place at 4 p.m. Monday at the Benwood-McMechen Public Library. This free performance is aimed at school-age children and adults.
An educator, Cooper does Chautauqua-style theater, bringing historical characters to life in portrayals that are based on extensive scholarship. She will provide a fascinating glimpse at Ross, the seamstress credited with making the first American flag, in this special post-Independence Day program.
The event is free and open to the public, with sponsorship provided by Evan G. Roberts Trust thru BB&T.
