Young Performers Front and Center at Celebrate Youth Festival
On Thursday, Wheeling Park will host Youth Services System’s 11th Celebrate Youth festival.
This free public event showcases local youth talent. Young performers will take the stage at the Skating Rink to entertain those attending. This year’s performers include Gabrielle Marshall, Stevie Lynn, Abiga Smith and Gage Joseph. In addition, the School of the Arts– Martial Arts Survival Club will demonstrate the skills of their young students. Stage performances begin at 11:30 a.m. C.A. House Music supports the Celebrate Youth performance stage with a state-of-the-art sound system.
¯ Gabrielle Marshall is an artist, poet and musician from East Wheeling whose musical influences include gypsy jazz, indie music and folk-punk.
¯ Stevie Lynn is a popular performer throughout the Ohio Valley who is returning to Celebrate Youth. She has won numerous competitions and performed at the Capital Music Hall, the Strand Theater, Lincoln Theater and the Victoria Theater.
¯ Abiga Smith lives in Wheeling with her two parents, two sisters, two dogs and two cats. She is kicking off her career in stand-up comedy.
¯ Gage Smith is a 14 year old freshman from Shadyside High School, who has been singing for a couple of years. He performs both classic and modern country and southern rock covers.
Celebrate Youth 2018–Opportunities Matter happens at Wheeling Park on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday with 60 exhibitors with activities and information for youth and their families. This free family friendly event includes lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., thanks to Wheeling Park and to generous event sponsors.
