You’ll Have a ‘Blues Christmas’ in Wheeling …

Albert Castiglia

WHEELING — Fan-favorite Albert Castiglia will bring the blues to the BluesFest Holiday Party on Tuesday at River City in Wheeling.

“Castiglia is a real crowd pleaser,” said Bruce Wheeler of Heritage Music BluesFest. “Along with a night of great blues, there will be merchandise and ticket giveaways on Tuesday.”

And, the crowd just may be “Up All Night,” when Albert comes to town, Wheeler noted. “‘Up All Night’ is an apt title for Albert’s seventh album, because nobody sleeps when this man is in town!”

Castiglia himself describes the vibes of the album as “heavy.”

“Up All Night” is what happens when fist-tight chemistry meets a songwriter firing on all cylinders. There’s the stinging “Hoodoo On Me,” the strutting garage-band vibe and scream-it-back chorus of “Three Legged Dog,” the punchy call-and-response bar-room brawler “Knocked Down Loaded,” and “95 South,” a travelogue about having to drive from Washington, D.C., to Castiglia’s home in South Florida in the middle of a tropical storm.

He’ll pummel you with the rough stuff, but Castiglia can also shift gears to more contemplative moments, whether that’s the rolling and contented acoustic blues of “You Got Me to That Place,” or its thematic opposite-man, “Unhappy House of Blues.”

The show starts at 7 p.m. River City is located at 1400 Main St., Wheeling. For tickets, visit www.heritagemusicfest.com. Tickets to BluesFest 2019, Aug. 9-11, will be available at early-bird prices.
