Glenn Miller Orchestra Kicks Off Summer Concert Series
NEW CUMBERLAND — The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will kick off the 2019 Chester City Park Summer Concert Series at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Davis Brothers Pharmacy Pavilion in a special concert to commemorate Memorial Day. Admission will be free for the outdoor event. Attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chair. In the event of rain, the event will be held at the Chester City Building, 600 Indiana Ave.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is one of the most popular and sought-after big bands in the world today for both concert and swing dance engagements. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. Following his untimely death on December 15, 1944, as a member of the United States Army Air Corps, Glenn Miller’s name has become immortalized through a film biography starring James Stewart, a posthumously received Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and many other accolades.
The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. Nick Hilscher is the band’s current director and primary male vocalist, with Hannah Truckenbrod serving as the featured female vocalist.
