Library Presents ‘Philomena’

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library will begin its Summer Cinema series “Pic of the Lit” featuring movies based on books – at 4 p.m. Monday.

The first film will be “Philomena,” directed by Stephen Frears and starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench.

A comedy-biographical drama, based on the true story “The Lost Child of Philomena Lee” written by Martin Sixsmith, the film recounts an Irish woman’s search for her son, accompanied by a world-weary political journalist. Philomena’s son was taken away from her decades ago after she’d become pregnant and was forced to live in a convent. An incredible tale of self-discovery for the two unlikely companions is told in this award-winning 2013 film.

“Philomena” is rated PG-13, running 98 minutes. This film showing is free and open to the public. The Moundsville Library is located at the corner of Tomlinson and Fifth Street. Call 304-845-6911 for more information.
