Holy Grounds to Host Evening of Classic Oldies, Rock ’n’ Roll

Holy Grounds Cafe will welcome two musical acts to the stage on Thursday, Oct. 19. Jeff Tappe will kick off the evening, with the band Frequency performing the second half of the evening. The coffeehouse is open from 7-9:30 p.m.

Tappe, an original member of the band Smoke Daddy & the Crawfish has played with groups and as a solo artist for many years. His musical style includes rock, blues, country and swing.

An upbeat acoustic band that plays covers of classic rock and soulful oldies, Frequency includes Steve Farrow, Steve Jenkins, Vila Blake-Jenkins and Tommy Brannan. Individually, each member of this versatile combo boasts at least 25 years of experience.

Holy Grounds Cafe is an outreach of Grace Church, and is run by David and Lisa Buckingham.

“These musicians put on a great show. They clearly have a lot of fun playing music. They are able to make a connection with their audience and everyone has a good time,” David Buckinham said.

At the coffeehouse, hot and cold drinks and a variety of snacks are available for a minimal donation. There is also a pool table, and free WiFi is available.

Holy Grounds Cafe is located at 410 Hanover St. in Martins Ferry.

For information, call 740-633-2699 or find them on Facebook at Holy Grounds Cafe.
