ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Recently opened at the Wetzel Springs Plaza behind the Pizza Hut in St. Clairsville, the Sunrise Coffee House offers plenty of breakfast and lunch options with a large selection of freshly brewed hot and cold espresso coffee drinks.

Owner Eric Bain and his mother Mary Chambers of Colerain decided to open the restaurant together this past October.

“We decided to take her idea of a restaurant and my idea of a coffee shop and combine them together,” Bain commented. He said they offer a diverse breakfast and lunch menu with large selection of espresso coffee drinks.

“We have a full espresso menu. We have about 26 different flavors,” Bain said.

Cappuccino, lattes, mochas, frappuccino, espresso and hot or iced chai tea, are just a few beverages listed on their coffee drinks menu.

Their creamy frappuccinos can be ordered in a variety of flavors including: chocolate chip, vanilla bean, hazelnut, white chocolate, carmel and green tea.

Bain said they currently offer build-your-own breakfast sandwiches in addition to their western sunrise, cowboy sunset, sunny garden and waffle sandwiches. In addition they have bagels and muffins.

Their lunch menu lists a variety of delicious signature sandwiches, salads, soups and side dishes.

“We have a (turkey) club sandwich that everyone loves,” said Bain.

In addition, they offer the sunset ham, Italian sunrise and starlight chicken sandwiches. Their side dishes include: macaroni salad, potato salad, coleslaw and variety of soups and desserts.

Bain said beginning next month, they will be expanding the coffee shop into a 1,600-square-foot space at the rear of the plaza building where they now are located. He said they plan to keep the coffee shop at its current location and open a 54-seat restaurant with a full salad bar and daily lunch buffet, with a Saturday brunch buffet.

“So we are going from 16 seats to a total of about 66 seats,” he added. He said they hope to open the larger restaurant by Valentines Day.

The Sunrise Coffee House is open for breakfast and lunch from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. For more information about their menu or for carry-out orders, call 740-695-9189.
