St. C. Singers Perform, Play Host To Spaghetti Dinner This Thursday
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The table has been set for a truly magical season by the St. C. Singers, and this week the local community has an opportunity to help support the group in its quest for a show choir championship.
One of the Singers’ biggest annual fundraisers –the winter spaghetti dinner –will take place from 4-8 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 15, in the cafetorium of the St. Clairsville City Schools’ main campus. The event not only raises funds that allow the group to participate in show choir competitions throughout the region, but also gives the local community a chance to get a taste of this year’s show, “The Grand Illusion.”
A full slate of entertainment will be offered during the spaghetti dinner, including performances by the St. C. Singers at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.; the St. Clairsville High School Chamber Choir at 5:30 and 7 p.m.; and Sweet Harmony at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
Dine-in and carryout meals will be available.
The St. C. Singers’ 2017-18 show choir season has taken them to competitions at Cabell Midland High School, Hurricane High School and Winfield High School in West Virginia so far this year. The group has brought home trophies for grand champion in its class in preliminary competitions and overall runner-up in finals each time, as well as caption awards for best female soloist (Leslie Rawlings), best stage crew, best band, outstanding set design and best dressed director (Wayne Berk).
The group will wrap up its competition season on Saturday at Capital High School in Charleston, W.Va.
The St. C. Singers will host their own annual competition, the St. Clairsville Division 3 Show Choir Invitational, on Feb. 24 at Buckeye Local High School.
Tickets for the spaghetti dinner can be purchased in advance from any member of the St. C. Singers, and tickets also will be available at the door.
