Musical puppet show set in Moundsville

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library will host the Pittsburgh Puppet Works on Saturday, Feb. 10, at noon for a very special performance of “Tales to Tunes.” The event is aimed at young children and is free and open to the public.

“Tales to Tunes” is a musical puppet show based on stories written by the talented young authors of the 2017 WQED Writers Contest. The stories are brought to life through songs and puppets adding their own silly jokes along the way.

The Pittsburgh Puppet Works is a professional puppet troupe that entertains children of all ages. Known for creating and performing “professional, hilarious, toe-tappin’,” engaging and all-around catchy puppet productions,” the Pittsburgh Puppet Works is family entertainment with “real character.” The laughs and learning go hand-in-hand and the artistry of the puppets is first-rate.

This event also serves as the local launch of the 2018 PBS Kids Writers Contest. Applications to enter the contest, plus handouts to help inspire young authors, will be available. Teachers and parents are invited to use this contest to encourage children to read, share tales and write their own stories. The contest is open to children in grades K through 5 and entries must be postmarked by March 31, 2018.

The “Tales to Tunes” puppet show is an Inquire Within event, with the library receiving support from WQED and Chevron. The Moundsville Library is located at the corner of Fifth and Tomlinson. Call 304-845-6911 for more information.
