WSO’s String Quintet To Play Free Concert

Wheeling Symphony Orchestra announced the next WSO on the GO concert will feature a Wheeling Symphony string quintet in coordination with the Bradford House Museum.

The performance will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradford House in Washington, Pa. on Thursday with doors to the museum opening at 6 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

People will have the opportunity to tour the house prior to the concert. The museum will be open to the public with docents offering historical information about David Bradford and the property. Local whiskey distillery, Liberty Pole Spirits, will also be offering samples as well as cocktails for purchase during the evening’s events. The string quintet will play in the garden behind house starting at 7 p.m. and will feature musicians: Anne Moskal (violin), Juan Jaramillo (violin), Jennifer Gerhard (viola), Elisa Kohanski (cello) and Jeffrey T. Mangone (contrabass).

“We couldn’t be more excited to perform at this incredible location and with this talented group of musicians for the final concert in our 2017-18 WSO on the GO series,” said Bryan Braunlich, marketing director of the WSO. “We were thrilled that our friends at the Bradford House Museum saw this event as a collaborative way to celebrate culture, history and music. Our WSO on the Go concerts have not only been a way to connect with our friends and neighbors through music, but they have also served as a reminder of the thriving artistic and cultural unity that we have in this region. We hope people join us for a truly enjoyable evening and entertaining concert, while also getting a taste of local flavor and whiskey, too.”

In 2016, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra on the GO was established to increase the visibility of and gain new audiences for Wheeling Symphony concerts with ensemble performances in interesting locations throughout our region. Through this program, the Wheeling Symphony has been able to showcase the versatility of the talented musicians in the Orchestra throughout the Ohio Valley. Because of the generous support of our sponsors and donors, all concerts will be free to the public to entice and encourage new audiences to become long-time supporters.

For 88 seasons, the Wheeling Symphony has served “community residents by providing excellent orchestral programs that entertain, educate and enhance the quality of life.” The Wheeling Symphony’s upcoming 89th season celebrates community with an eclectic season featuring classical intrigue, romance, excitement, and passion. Building on its rich musical heritage, the Wheeling Symphony will welcome four music director finalists, their visions, and musical experiences to the Wheeling area. It will be a season unlike any other, and the symphony wants its community to drive the orchestra and its new maestro into the symphony’s 90th anniversary.
