Lauren Elizabeth Swearingen and Matthew Clinton Herbster were united in marriage Saturday, June 14, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Wheeling. The Rev. Eric Shafer of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Alexandria, Va., officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mark Swearingen of Martins Ferry and Robert and Paula Lawrence of Wheeling.
The groom is the son of Andrew and Terri Herbster of Tatamy, Pa.
A reception was held at Sandscrest Retreat and Conference Center, Wheeling.
The bride is a 2007 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School and a 2011 graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and public relations. She is the deputy press secretary for U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., in Washington, D.C.
The groom is a 2005 graduate of Nazareth High School and a 2010 graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He is a specialist for Siemens Building Technologies in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
The couple resides in Alexandria, Va.
