Anti-Abortion Bus Tour Makes Stop

WHEELING – Local residents gathered at Heritage Port Friday displaying signs declaring “abortion is not health care” and “Defeat Obama, Defeat Obamacare” to welcome former Colorado Congresswoman and Vice President of the Susan B. Anthony List Marilyn Musgrave on her five-state bus tour “Women Speak Out: Abortion is Not Health Care.”

The 30-stop tour has made a special visit to the “battleground state” of Ohio including Akron and Steubenville, as well as a stop in West Virginia, to inform and motivate people to keep abortion issues in the forefront for the upcoming election.

“Every expert is saying in these battleground states the election is incredibly close,” Musgrave said. “We’re really trying to motivate pro-lifers to bring their family and friends into the discussion and to take a look at how extreme this president really is.”

Musgrave said the tour is working to end the policies under “the most pro-abortion president” President Obama. She claimed Obama “misled” people by saying he wanted to find common ground on the issue of abortion. She cited the 2009 overturning of the “Mexico City Policy” which would have prohibited funding to international clinics that offered abortion-related services and the president’s introduction of the Affordable Care Act which requires insurance companies to cover contraceptive methods and counseling.

“Under Obamacare we have seen the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade,” Musgrave said. “The religious liberties that we have held dear in this country are under attack now like no other time in our history. I don’t believe those values reflect the majority of Americans. I don’t believe those values reflect the values of the people of the Ohio River valley. That’s why we’re here.”

She mentioned the Susan B. Anthony List’s support of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan during what she called “the most pivotal election for women speaking out.”
