Garden Center Sets Open House

The new owners of Ponzani Lendon Florist & Garden Center located along National Road just east of St. Clairsville are hoping to add their own creative touch to the long-time floral business – which up until just a few months ago was known as Ponzani’s Florist and Gift Shop.

Owners George and Jennifer Lendon of Bethesda, along with Jennifer’s brother, Matt Swigert of Newcomerstown, are hoping local residents will take the opportunity to stop by the gift shop and garden center during their grand reopening and open house scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and look over the business’ subtle new look.

“For right now, because this is a slow time of the year for garden centers … we still have a lot of favorites that customers have asked for, but we’re also trying to add in some new things. … Of course we always have the mums and that kind of stuff,” said Jennifer Lendon, who added the gift shop also carries a large variety of gift items. “There’s things for sympathy, there’s things for a baby … there’s just general gifts for graduates or retirement and a lot of silk and fresh arrangements,” she added.

Lendon said the garden center also offers a nice variety of flowers, shrubs, trees and planters.

“It’s just something God provided an opportunity for us to be able to do this,” said Lendon, while talking about their new business venture.

She said her brother, Matt, was also in a position to join them as a partner in the business and they are extremely excited about the opportunity to bring their own creative touch to the long-time garden center.

The garden center is located at 46540 National Road, St. Clairsville. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available for visitors during the open house. For more information or hours of operation call 740-695-2204.
