Straub Gives to Soup Kitchen

TRIADELPHIA – In September, Straub Automotive conducted what the Honda, Hyundai and Nissan dealer called “Souper September” to assist the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling.

Throughout the month, Straub raised funds and collected canned goods and other non-perishable food items from customers and employees. A check for $5,745.41 was recently presented to the Soup Kitchen at the Straub Nissan showroom.

In September, Straub donated the value of all oil change coupons turned in by customers, as well as offering $1 discounts for service for each food item donated. Straub employees also made person contributions of money and food, including the proceeds of the weekly employee bake sale, to support the effort.

“Our first Souper September to help the Wheeling Soup Kitchen with their important and much-needed ministry in our community has exceeded our expectations,” said Straub general manager Bryan Fato.

Since 1982, the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling has provided warm meals and companionship as a non-profit inter-faith ministry incorporated with the state of West Virginia. The organization’s mission to feed the hungry includes a hot lunch of meat, starch, vegetables, bread, beverage and desert, along with meals to go for the evening. For more information, visit
