Christmas Tree Gala Is Sunday
The Greater Cameron Landmarks Commission will sponsor its second annual Adopt-A-Tree Christmas Gala beginning Sunday and ending with a decorated Christmas tree and wreath auction Nov. 30 following the lighting of Cameron’s Christmas tree.
This year trees and wreaths will be displayed in the lower level of the First United Methodist Church on Church Street. Viewing times are: noon to 2 p.m. Sunday and Nov. 25; 4-6 p.m. Nov. 28; 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 30; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1. In conjunction with viewing times tours of the historic 10 Church St. house (across from Cameron Elementary) will be offered for a small donation. Children younger than 12 years old tour free with an adult.
Trees were donated by local businesses and individuals including Cameron Hometown Hardware and Lois Berzman.
Among those sponsoring decorated trees and wreaths this year are Blue & Gold Christian Center, Cameron Baptist Church WMU, Big Run Christian Church, Dry Ridge CEOS and Cameron and Co. 4-H.
The city’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 outside the BB&T Main Street branch building, and will include music by the Cameron High School Chorus.
The tree auction will follow at the church at 7:30 p.m.
Auction services will again be donated by Richmond Auctioneer Services, Chad Richmond, auctioneer.
All proceeds benefit the continuing restoration efforts for the B&O Depot Building, which is the lone surviving remnant of the City’s railroad era and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
