Would-be Patriots To Learn ‘All About Park’
Wheeling Park High School Principal Amy Minch believes her school offers exciting opportunities for students regardless of their interests.
She said that’s what “All About Park” will show potential students at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at WPHS. Private and parochial school students and all Ohio County Schools eighth-graders interested in attending Wheeling Park High School, along with their parents and guardians, are invited to the event.
“Wheeling Park High School offers the best in any subject a student may wish to pursue – advanced placement, the arts and career and technical education,” Minch said. “We want to show potential students that they won’t find a better education anywhere. The athletics and extracurricular organizations offer activities for everyone and for basically every interest, and I think they will discover that if they attend ‘All About Park.'”
“All About Park” is an annual event. Ohio County Schools administrators and Wheeling Park High School principals, guidance counselors and department chairs will be available to discuss programs and Wheeling Park’s curriculum. Information on clubs and athletic programs will be available to potential students in the food court.
“Wheeling Park High School offers so much,” Ohio County Schools Superintendent and former Wheeling Park High School Principal Dianna Vargo said.
Wheeling Park High School is one of the top comprehensive schools in West Virginia. Serving about 1,700 students enrolled in ninth through 12th grades, WPHS offers more than 300 courses in regular, special and career and technical education. WPHS is certified by the state of West Virginia’s Office of Education Performance Audits and is designed to provide both quality and diversity in its curriculum. Wheeling Park High School has been named a “National School of Excellence,” a “West Virginia Blue Ribbon School” and a West Virginia “School of Excellence.”
